Everyone should know a few "party tricks" and hand shadows are easy to learn with this little book. Illustrations show hand positions clearly, and there's a nice poem for each shadow. All but one require the use of both hands, and some definitely take practice to achieve! My one star off is because I would have liked a range of simpler shadows in addition to the more challenging ones.Here's what you get: goose, deer, bunny, birds, goat, dog, elephant, greyhound, pig, bear, mule, bulldog, tortoise, camel, hare, cockatoo, bull, squirrel, eagle, sheep, swan, and several versions of man.
I purchased this as a Father’s Day gift from my toddler girls to their Daddy. My little preschoolers were in awe to see the images on the wall, which made Daddy’s day. Some of these were pretty tough to finagle the fingers just right, but overall these images are all what you’d expect to see in a shadow puppet book. There are 28 shadows included in this book. Each image also has a creative poem to go with them, which entertained both the kids and the adults. I knocked this down a star for presentation because this is a thin, black and white-paged book. There is no “curb appeal†to this product, but for the price you cannot go wrong. See my pictures for a couple examples of the inside of this book.
The hand shadows in this book are too difficult for a child to produce. Also, many of them are of people's faces. I didn't find much value in it as a gift for a child of any age really. I'll be purchasing something else.
Simple brief book with a variety of hand shadows you can make based on the drawings, not a lot of text to read. I got because I loved making these when I was a kid but I forgot most of them and my son seemed interested so I got this book. We have had fun doing these at night before sleeping and I can see these being a hit when camping out in a tent. Would make a nice stocking stuffer type gift as well.
Delighted to find these clever little books that will easily fit along with a flashlight, batteries, and some other little goodies for charitable shoebox gift giving at Christmastime! So affordable, I was able to buy a handful! Clever little ditties of verse are included with each illustrated shadow. Thankful & blessed!
This is a wonderful shadow book! I sent my granddaughters each one and they reserved a day on the weekend to share with their parents.I received videos of them performing a hand shadow show; it was all so exciting to see those little fingers turn into birds and animals. Thank for the people who published this. Worth the money and time to order for anyone!
This book was included in a care package for my son at Boy Scout's camp. I figured he would find it mildly intriguing but not necessarily engaging.When he returned home from camp, I asked him about his care packages. The first thing he highlighted was the "Fun with Hand Shadows." Initially, he thought it was a bit childish but then he and his tent mate used their flashlights to try to create all the different shadows. He then showed me how to make the hand gestures for his favorites. The next night, a few other scouts camp to his tent, and they all attempted to create different shadow puppets on the tent walls.
Makes a great gift. This book would suite kids and adults who have a beginners interest in hand shadows. It was a gift for a kiddo and book was a hit. Two different ages, one reading ready and one not yet and they both enjoy practicing and trying to recreate the examples in the book. Recommended and would purchase again.
